Great wine doesn't get any better than this. La Cave d'Augustin has been distinguished as a 'Boutique Cremant de Loire Valley' by the French Bureau of Appellations d'Origine Controlees. The winery is located in the town of Saint Jean de Nieppe, a beautiful rural village in northern France. The production area lies in the heart of the Sevre et Maine, an area that lies along the Sevre river where it meets the sea. This region is often referred to as Muscadet-Sevre et Maine. While summer may be drawing to a close, peak white-wine season is just beginning! With that in mind, our Wines Curator has put together a selection of 3 classic French whites - delicate, but with plenty of character. You'll be hard-pressed to find a better value for the dollar (or euro) than the blend of Corton Charlemagne and Bouzerons from Olivier Leflaive's Montrachet estate. A great pairing for fish, poultry, or any rich lobster dish, this wine offers outstanding texture and a pleasant and lingering finish. This wonderful wine has a light straw color, which turns to gold as it ages in the glass. It is dry with a fruity aroma and excellent balance between acidity and sweetness, making it an ideal accompaniment to fish dishes.
