Betancourt's Connetable MSC cod liver must be smoked, which is an exceptional means to guarantee the quality of this product. Twice named by The Times as "the best fish in the world". Traditionally prepared with beech wood and smoked in the Connetable mountains of northern France, our cod liver can be enjoyed straight out of the tin as part of a healthy meal or taken straight from the spoon as a natural source of essential fatty acids and vitamins. Every gourmet delicatessen offers cod liver from the North Sea, but the MSC label indicates that it has been prepared with beech wood smoke obtained from responsibly managed forests. To preserve this feature the livers from which this smoked cod liver is made must have been caught within special marine areas of conservation thus preventing over fishing and guaranteeing stock conservation. Our Connetable smoked cod fillet with liver was made as a tasty and healthy complement to the Connetable fumee shad roe, caught in the gentle waters of the Celtic Sea. Ùll find it perfect served cold and sliced, or hot and flaked with wrinkly potatoes and extra virgin olive oil. After years of research on the best smoked cod, we've perfected our traditional technique for a flavour that is delicate, extremely light and authentic.
